Showing Mema the playhouse.
The temperature got up to 97 again today. Wow.
Over to the Golden Living Center.
One of Naomi's children isn't feeling well and they were unable to come this week. But Mom was willing to sing with us so off we went!
We go around to three different places in the main dining room singing two songs at each area. Once a month we go around to two other dining rooms in the alzheimer's wing. Some residents sing along, whistle and sometimes simply tap to the beat. We're getting to know more and more of them and enjoy going.
The Bed and Breakfast Dad and Mom are staying at. We forgot the key this time and unfortunately the kids and I never made it back to look more closely.
Naomi and her family live right next door. You can see their roof over Kaitlyn's shoulder.We drove over to the Missouri River to see how high it is. Right up to the top of the banks!
We drove west of town to see the countryside. Dad is a wheat farmer and was interested to see the corn being planted on the terraced hillsides.
We ended up in Omaha and stopped at Boys Town. In 1976 they developed a co-ed campus. Kids between the ages 10 and 16 commonly come here for a couple of years.
One building we stopped at was a museum.
An old sports team bus where we could watch a movie inside.
We've watched an old Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney movie called, "Boy's Town" growing up and it's so great to have the original primarily right here in Omaha! When Dad saw this statue he immediately said the famous quote, "He ain't heavy father...he's m' brother!"
All around the city we see many different medical facilities, an agricultural learning area as well as this quite large village we visited. They even have their own fire and police departments. If you have 8 minutes, here is a great clip that shows a little about it.
Adam had meetings at the Blackstone Building today. Which is normal for tuesdays and wednesdays. So we met him after work and he showed us around. Dad was interested in finally getting a better grasp of what he does. This is hard for everyone, including Adam!
The Blackstone is an old renovated hotel. It's now a historical landmark and a very beautiful place to work.
