Adam has been invited to go golfing next Friday. So this morning we all went over to the driving range and even did a little putting. Adam really enjoyed hearing the "ping" with his very cool driver. Much different than the "whack" he heard all day, Sunday, with his wooden one. Maybe building a club set around this wouldn't be so bad. Hmm.
Matthew had his own custom made set that he used. Well, some garage sale clubs that Daddy cut down to size and put electric tape on for grips. Matthew loved it. I don't know how much the gentleman down the way appreciated us though. We weren't too conducive for concentration. But another father and his two sons showed up later, so we didn't feel too bad about it. And Matthew learned a lot today.
On Monday at work, one of Adam's friends mentioned that he had also gone to the driving range. Adam asked him if he'd seen a number of balls to the far left - really close to where he was hitting. He said, yeah, and thought it was kind of strange. Adam laughed and said, that was Matthew.
He hit about 1/2 a basket of balls, maybe 3/4. And by the end you could really see that he was getting tired. His little old wooden driver was heavy. And he was working at that upswing. Later in the week Adam drilled several holes in it to lighten it up. He found a lead weight in it! So it really helped to get rid of that. Matthew liked it a lot better. But he never complained.
This week is our Campbell County fair. So we drove over to that next. What a lot of fun! They had so many things for kids to do! Last week they had the carnival and this week all the entries. But they still had so many things for children and families to do this week. It was great.
It was held at our "Camplex," which boasts to be the 'west's largest events facility.' It sits on 1,100 acres and is very versatile to all kinds of entertainment that comes to town. So we definitely didn't see everything. But we went to a big game room, which we were surprised to find, Matthew received a tiger balloon, and Adam saw many informational booths. We went to a petting zoo and heard a live band. We saw some entries and a lot of the entered animals. It was fun. We even saw stabled draft horses up close. Very impressive.
Back home we were all still going strong. Got a lot of cooking and cleaning done. Adam worked on the yard and garden. Matthew played and played. A very good, hot day.
