Springtime in corn country.
Staying at a hotel with Grandpa and Grandma. So nice we can all travel together! Between our two vehicles, we have all the last of our things that the moving company couldn't safely take.
Pit stop to fix our little trailer. Part of the hitch broke. Such a blessing that it was a problem right as we were stopping after exiting the interstate!

Matthew rode most of the way with Grandma and Grandpa. He enjoyed that tremendously.

Adam went right back to work after the drive from Gillette. Each night after work he met the rest of us out at our Plattsmouth house and unpacked 'til late. Mom, the kids and I usually went back to the apartment in the evening to get everyone in bed and a good night's sleep. Here, after a usual late night of unpacking with Dad, he and Adam stopped to look at the flooding just outside of Plattsmouth. From between the short time of closing on the house and moving our belongings up from Gillette, the Platte and Missouri River areas experienced quite a bit of flooding. In this first picture, the road behind the pickup is covered in water. About 2 miles between here and the mouth of the Platte emptying into the Missouri is all under water. This is just outside of Plattsmouth. We are very thankful to fully realize how good it is to have our new home up on top of one of the hills in town.
From June 14 - October 2010; this road still isn't fully clear! We still have never seen the headwaters yet! Still partly under water.
When looking to buy our home - Adam offered to drive us out here. Back before the flooding. I quickly said, "No!" We had been driving, and driving, and driving a circumference around the Omaha area looking for a home. A little extra drive for the fun of it? "No."
Hmmm.... Maybe we should have....
"Plattsmouth lake" residents have nicknamed this body of water that isn't supposed to be here. Just to the right of this 3rd picture is Plattsmouth's main street and historical downtown. Years ago the Missouri flooded the entire downtown and they later built up the road. Therefore, under our current main street is about one full-story height of all the old downtown buildings and the original street. Some of the business owners can now go down in their 'basements' and see their old storefront.
Visiting the office after church. Matthew is quite tired here and Kaitlyn is out in the car napping. They did so good through all of the commotion! We are so proud of them.

Helping us move in!
It was hot and the movers did such a wonderful job getting everything in the house from the moving truck. Dad and Mom met them early in the morning when they first arrived and directed where things needed to go. It was a big job. The driver, and boss, of the operation said that in his 17 years of doing this, he had never had stairs as bad as the set going from our main floor to the upstairs. They worked and worked and strained and strained and got everything up there that we needed. All around the little bend at the bottom of the stairs and low ceiling at the top. But Adam's big metal bed frame that he made when we were engaged didn't make it, nor some of the dressers!
The stairs to the basement were pretty tough, too. Those guys got a pretty good tip!
We have so much storage space!
The previous owner left the house sparkling. We hardly needed to clean anything before moving in. So wonderful. Plus they had freshly painted it and kept the garden and yard in perfect condition. Bless them.
Mom and Dad lovingly and graciously decided to help us get moved in to our kitchen and bedrooms instead of having fun and visiting the zoo. Bless them!
Back they traveled to Amsterdam thursday, June
So sad to see Grandpa and Grandma go. . . and Daddy off to work.

It was wonderful in every way.
We'll miss you, too! So many good memories here. Cleaned it all up saturday, June 26 and moved the last things out. Then finished up on sunday after church and turned the keys in.

Adam has a business trip to Gillette of all places! Trip #2. But he is only gone one night. He is traveling with the executive committee to look at maintenance processing. June 29 - 30th. We also have some renters in our Gillette home, so he dropped by there to visit with them.
So, we decided to go to the zoo. Look forward to going with you Grandpa and Grandma when you make it back for your next visit!
