Kaitlyn's Baptism

This morning Matthew went with Grandma, better known as Mema, to Sunday School. He did great during the opening then went to Debbie and Blake's Sunday School class. Debbie is the teacher and had a full class. It was first graders and she had some pictures he could color and said he did really good. What a little Mr. Independent. He is so happy to be with them and meet all the other kids.

When the service started, we were surprised to see Matthew up front and center with the rest of the kids. They had the kids come in with palm branches and lead the praise choruses. Debbie stood right beside Matthew and helped him not jump from the stage too much, or bat the microphone and welcomed him back after he came out to us to say "Hi Mom and Dad!" Adam and I were pretty shy little kids, so this is pretty entertaining to us. We are always amazed with Matthew. He had gone through rehearsal with them all, plus all these other things without one worry.

Kaitlyn's baptism was shortly after this and very nice. Pastor Steve Hepner is so good and calmly led us through everything. Matthew was getting a little hyper by then, but it wasn't a problem. Pastor Steve just kept it short while we were up there as he is so experienced and easily saw this. Kaitlyn was so good through the whole thing. She gave one little cry at the end, so the listening radio audience could hear her.

Then we had a nice meal downtown afterwards with Pastor Steve and his wife Joan and Aunt Maralee. Kaitlyn fell asleep in Joan's arms at the table. She thought that was pretty special. Then we went over to Grandma Jo's all dressed up still, as she wasn't able to make it. And Kaitlyn promptly fell asleep in Maralee's arms there. What a big day. Matthew loves walking down the hallway there and meeting people. Many of the residents really like seeing them. And whenever she should cry, someone would comment later that they had heard a baby. It's really nice going there with kids. I grew up going there. Churches took turns doing services there each Sunday, so we usually went when it was Elim Lutheran Brethren's turn. So it's nice seeing it through adults eyes now.

Uncle Roger was out playing catch with Matthew for a long time this evening. Very, very fun! Adam was too and Matthew had been throwing the ball up on the roof of the house. Then they'd watch it come down and do it again. Just like his friends back in Gillette. Adam's been getting a lot of good visiting in. Visiting tonight with their neighbor and friend, Randy. And Roger, every chance he gets. Lot's of good things to discuss and so enjoyable.
