One Day Old

Family of Five

William Frank is very laid back. More so than Kaitlyn even was! I've counted only two times that he's been startled - other than the usual startle reflex. And we have a very noisy household! Even with Kaitlyn loving on him, he's as calm and unbothered as can be. She loves going nose to nose with him, examining his fingers over, touching his face...running over to visit on a regular basis. That's all fine with him. And of course Matthew "likes being loud," as he's stated in the past. Obviously being a part of our family for 9 months already from within the womb makes this all very normal to William. So relaxing!

Matthew and Daddy came home with gifts. We even have a little sign out by our mailbox that says, "It's a boy!" Daddy is teaching Matthew so well!

Matthew got his baby brother. He wasn't surprised a bit. That's what he's said all along..."Blue!"..."A boy!" whenever anybody asked. He has embraced William into the family. He's a very busy boy, but whenever he stops and checks in on William, he has the sweetest look and sweetest smile on his face. He's very gentle with him.

Kaitlyn finally has her baby. She is So happy. So cute listening to her baby talk to him and giggle over him. He Loves it. He is enthralled.

We've already had 6 visitors today! Wonderful! William simply falls asleep in their arms. Amazing.

William had a little bruising on his left cheek and on the front of his head after the delivery. Heather said he must have been resting on my pelvis somewhat. I had back labor and Adam was there the entire time rubbing my lower back as necessary. Though he didn't have to as much as at Matthew's birth. His hands and arms were so sore after Matthew's. You are so awesome Darlin'! The ladies there complimented him on what a great husband he is..."as you know," they said.

William came three weeks early...according to our calculations. But just as they say, he knew and God knew. And he is the perfect size! Heather first had me come into the clinic when I told her I was in labor. She didn't even believe me until she checked and saw that I was 90% effaced. As she was leaving she said I was the Last mother she would ever have guessed to have come in on the 12th. Out of all of her overdue mothers and coming up mothers....and we were going to be her first delivery at her new birthing center that is due to open the same time William was "due!" So off we went to the hospital. And it was the best experience. It truly is a very progressive hospital. And we basically had the entire labor & delivery department to ourselves! It's only about 4 years old and still increasing its clientele. So wonderful for us! The nurse assisting was also very flexible and thoughtful to our desires. All such a great experience.

His second car ride. He doesn't care a bit. Just falls asleep, as he did on the ride home from the hospital. Today we are off for his infant screening. We have the best ever pediatrician right here in town. What a relief. No long distance traveling. No lectures.

Kaitlyn is So Happy to have her seat right next to William's. Matthew is So Happy to be riding up front with Daddy. He's been waiting for this for about 5 months.
