Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today we went to the retirement home here in Plattsmouth with the Lanham family and sang to the residents. It was so festive there and such a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Matthew and Kaitlyn did so well! They've been to see Grandma Jo in Malta a few times at the Malta Hi-Line Retirement Home and took it all in stride today.

The four kids and Naomi and I sang "Jesus Loves Me, Onward Christian Soldiers, In My Heart There Rings a Melody, and At the Cross." Lot's of verses! And they were so brave. The Lanham kids have sang in front of church before, but it was all pretty new. We sang two songs at a time at the two ends of the large cafeteria during the noon hour. Then we went around to the other cafeterias in other wings, four in total, singing two songs each. The residents loved seeing the kids, talked with them and some sang along. Matthew was wearing his, "Kiss Me I'm Irish" hat and got a big smooch from a nice grandma. What a good surprise!

We've been practicing hymns on tuesdays at the Lanhams. Now we are going to simply 'practice' at the retirement home instead each week.

Having the traditional corn beef and cabbage dinner. It was good! Thanks to Aunt Maralee...and Mom! Aunt Maralee has a tasty recipe for the corn beef. There were no leftovers! And Mom called right when I needed to get dinner ready and motivated me to prepare the dinner just like they were. The Paul Irish tradition.

Our street has been a little tore up all winter. A water line leaked right before the first freeze. Now this week they are finishing the job. The last two mornings the kids have been right out there 'with them' watching the fun.

Good weather again for walks!! We often go after dinner. We've lived here long enough that walking back up the hill at end is no big deal now. Very nice.
